The iARM (intelligent Assistant Robot Manipulator) is a robot arm that assists in a more independent way of life. The iARM enables and empowers you to do such tasks as eating, drinking, picking something up off the ground, preparing a meal, or applying makeup……. With the iARM, you are now able to do these activities yourself without asking anyone’s help. The iARM is fitted to your electric wheelchair and has 5 different control menus in order for the robot arm to cater to your needs, wherever you are and whatever you are doing. Thanks to its 80 cm reach, the iARM has the same scope of reach as the human arm. If you do not need it for a while, this is no problem. You can fold it away so neatly that you will not even notice that it is fitted to your wheelchair.  

The 5 menus:

Start menu
The title says enough: this menu is used to start up the iARM. This menu can be used to extend or retract the arm and it also includes a drink menu. If your iARM has a lift, it can be controlled by this menu.

Macro menu
This new menu enables positions to be saved. In total you can save the 12 positions in the computer that you use most.

This means you do not have to move the arm step for step to positions you use often. In the Macro menu you can move the iARM from any position to the saved position with the control buttons as often as you like.

Joint menu
The iARM has 6 joints that can be controlled. In this menu you can move each joint independently. This will not be needed so often as it is a difficult menu and it also costs much time to move the robot.

Cartesian menu
The Cartesian menu is used mainly to enable drinking. The hand remains in the position you programmed, horizontal or vertical. You can make all movements without the hand moving, if that is what you desire!

Pilot menu
This menu has not been called ‘pilot’ for nothing. This menu’s movements are like that of an aeroplane. The iARM follows the direction of the hand. With this menu you can, for example, attempt to produce a work of art on a painting easel!
